Common Cabinet Body Materials
Solid Wood Particle Board:Made by pressing wood chips together; features a dense structure, good dimensional stability, and strong screw-holding power. It is moderately priced but has average moisture resistance and is vulnerable to water damage.
Solid Wood Plywood (Multi-layer Board): Constructed by gluing together multiple thin layers of wood. It offers high strength, superior moisture resistance compared to particle board, and excellent stability; it is currently a mainstream, cost-effective choice for cabinet bodies.
Stainless Steel Cabinetry: Fireproof, heat-resistant, waterproof, and mold-resistant. It eliminates concerns about formaldehyde emissions and is easy to clean, though it scratches easily upon impact and has a cold, industrial aesthetic.
Solid Wood Cabinetry:Natural and eco-friendly with beautiful grain textures. However, it is expensive and prone to warping over time; buyers should be wary of potential quality issues resulting from cost-cutting measures.
Stone Cabinetry (Granite/Natural Stone): Made from natural stone; highly durable, eco-friendly, mold-resistant, and practical. It has an understated appearance, making it ideal for functional kitchens where aesthetics are not the primary concern.
Brick-Built Cabinetry: Constructed using cement, red bricks, and tiles. It offers exceptional water resistance and low costs but requires skilled craftsmanship and is difficult to make visually appealing.
Common Cabinet Door Materials
Solid Wood Doors:Available in solid wood and engineered solid wood (composite) varieties. They feature premium natural grain textures; solid wood is more expensive and suits Chinese-style or vintage-style kitchens.
Thermofoil/Molded Doors:Feature an MDF core with a PVC surface finish. They come in a wide range of colors, resist cracking and warping, withstand scratches and heat, and are easy to maintain.
Lacquer-Finish Doors:Created by applying multiple layers of paint followed by high-temperature baking. They offer a high-gloss finish and striking aesthetics, making them perfect for modern minimalist or "light luxury" style kitchens.
Acrylic Doors: Feature high gloss and a three-dimensional look. They are hard yet tough, resistant to breakage (and repairable), and can meet specific color customization needs.
